The Story Behind...

Some months back I received a unique request from a customer. She wanted to buy a By Leahy item of jewellery for her partner. Specifically, she wanted a necklace and really liked the design of the Slip Necklace.

Keeping the core components - the delicate chain and Slip - I modified the design to give it a more masculine edge. Removing the small chain extension and keeping the Slip in landscape mode, I hung it from a jump ring in each top corner. I also lengthened the chain from 16”/40 to 18”/45cm. However, a 20”/50cm length is also available if needed. 

Initially named the ‘Slip Necklace, for Men’, within a few weeks I noticed women were also buying it for themselves, such was their love for the more masculine look. This led to a name change and this piece is now named the ‘Landscape Slip Necklace’.

Then something else great happened. With the development of the ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ Collection, the Slip Necklace was further iterated - adapting it to a portrait format to cater to the teddy bear shape of Ireland. The masculine aesthetic was kept and we now have the ‘Portrait Slip Necklace’.

Depending on the note that you’d like to have engraved, you can now choose a landscape or portrait mode to best suit you.

Engraving is complimentary and comes as standard in the By Leahy font. Or, you can upgrade the new Slip Necklaces with an engraving of your handwriting or that of a loved one. Simply select your choice of engraving from the drop-down menu. Email a photo of the handwritten message to hello@byleahy.com once you've purchased your piece. 

Along with every item in the By Leahy Collection these items are designed and handmade in Ireland and are delivered gift-wrapped, with complimentary national and international shipping. Hallmarking is done by the Assay Office on the grounds of Dublin Castle.
