A new design, an Ambassadorial request, the Irish Made Awards... A Week in the World of By Leahy

Hello there,

I used to send a monthly note where I gave an insight into all that was happening in the world of By Leahy. Over time it began to get bigger, longer and then it became something that I found hard to be consist with. However, I know from your engagement and feedback that it was enjoyed.

So, I am changing it up.

Instead, it will be a weekly email but shorter and hopefully offer more value to you. Let's jump in...

While many gorgeous pieces exited the bench last week - this one (top centre) has stayed close to my mind. A Signature Envelope Necklace in solid 18ct gold arrived into Australia last week after an around-the-world journey (more on that in an upcoming blog). Think of a QR code with a very romantic story and personalised with her name engraved in Chinese.

I was stunned to realised that my customer had searched everywhere to find a solid gold envelope and By Leahy was the only one to offer it (every other option was plated etc.). In the past, so many of you shared images of similar envelope designs and, while it can be dispiriting, this feedback cemented my belief and trust that you know and seek quality design. Thank you. 🙏

The three 'little' ones are getting less little every day. Matty just turned 18 months and his desire for danger seeks no bounds. He climbed to the top of that climbing frame - insisting on doing exactly what Sadie and Billy do. One of their uncles has planted the most beautiful crop of sunflowers, which are bringing a lot of joy - and competition to see who/which is taller.

And, we had a delightful morning in Coole Park. We haven't been in some weeks. It's as beautiful and enjoyable as ever, more so with the leaves beginning to turn autumnal. And yes, that is Billy with a hurling helmet that he insists on wearing when scooting. 😂

The Irish Country Magazine, Irish Made Awards, are this Wednesday, the 30th. To everyone who voted for and supported By Leahy - thank you, so much. It is a delight just to be a finalist.

I really wanted to wear and support Irish for the event. After weeks of searching, to say that I am ecstatic to wear a design from emerging designer Fiona Troy is an understatement. I am still in disbelief that she is allowing me wear one of her stunning creations. From her SS27 collection, the Orchid Skirt has just showcased in London as past of London Fashion Week and it is pure joy. I'll be pairing it with the most luxurious of linen shirts from The Linen Shirt Company - the detail is so subtle and beautiful.

What I am looking forward to this week...

Making soup!

Following Dr. Hazel Wallace on Instagram, she has shared two (one and one) delicious looking soup recipes that I am looking forward to making as the autumn feeling creeps in.

I received a delightful email this week, inviting me to design a piece for the Estonian Ambassador to Ireland. As part of Ireland's Presidency of the EU, each county in Ireland is twinned with an EU member state. Galway is twinned with Estonia, and I am quiet excited to design a piece that celebrates Ireland and our relationship with the EU.

Saving the best for last... I am most looking forward to launching a new design. I am refocusing on designing and making pieces that can be enjoyed everyday and stand the test of time, to be handed down to your future generations. This new design has been developing on my bench for months. Listening to your feedback has been the driver in creating this new addition. The Slip Studs will be launching online next week and I really think they will become one of the most popular designs in the collection.

They will be available in the four precious metal options (18ct, and 9ct yellow gold, rose gold, and sterling silver). With the option to be personalised on the front and back standard engraving is complimentary, and all other engraving options can be explored here.

I hope you love them. As always, feedback is most welcome.

Thanks for joining me here. I hope you have a lovely week of making memories and creating connections.

Laoise x
