A month to remember... Hello September, and thank you August.
Welcome to the new By Leahy series, where I will be sharing more of what goes on behind the scenes with me, Laoise, and my jewellery brand, By Leahy.
Building a brand and balancing family life with a 2 year old and a recently-turned 4 year old is a fun juggle.
As each month wraps up, I love to reflect back on all that has happened. Apart from jewellery, so many of my memories are captured in photos. Many of which I share below (and more on Instagram if you would like to take a look).
August.... Another month full of creating special memories. Usually this is a very quiet month for me on the jewellery front. But this year it felt like Christmas. I feel like a broken record at this point but I am blown away by the number of people who are choosing by Leahy for the first time. I am also delighted to see so many of my lovely customers come 'back for more jewellery' as one person put it.
As always, a heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone who chose a piece in August. I hope you love it.
Customers last month came from Ireland, the UK, and the US, celebrating multiple milestone birthday's, wedding anniversaries, gifting words of encouragement, marking a first concert, choosing a leaving gift, and celebrating precious new arrivals.
The most popular designs, by far, were the Signature Envelope Necklace, and the Landscape Slip Bracelet, with 9ct yellow gold being the most chosen precious metal.
In more personal goings on, our little lady celebrated her 4th birthday and was delighted with her chocolate cake, covered in orange sprinkles, with dinosaurs on top. We had a lovely family day out to the Galway Races - Billy has his first win and Sadie had another lucky streak – turns out picking your favourite colours can be a good strategy. We ventured to Barna Woods for the first time which was a treat, and – with another lucky day of sunshine – we had a refreshing trip to Silverstrand Beach.
Last but not least, I was absolutely delighted to see By Leahy selected as a Jewellery Finalist in the Irish Country Magazine Irish Made Awards. If you have two minutes to spare I would really appreciate your vote.
Some photo highlights of the month, below...
L-R: How Billy likes to eat all of his food lately - out of a tractor and trailer.
We got a date night on one of the most beautiful evenings in Galway. There's nowhere I'd rather be when the sun shines.
A haul from the farm - we are some lucky ducks.
Our two little monkeys in Rinville Park.
Sadie's 4th birthday cake as per her request - chocolate cake, with orange sprinkles and dinosaurs. I may have plucked the dinosaurs out of the sand pit but, by the smile on her face, she was a very happy lady.
Playing hide and seek in our happy place, Coole Park.
A glorious burst of fresh air on Silverstand Beach.
Enjoying the Galway Races before collecting their winnings.
Finding fun in every spot in Barna Woods.
L-R: A Connect Bracelet in silver and Candy Pastels engraved with her niece's birth date and 'TS' – a nod to her first concert, Taylor Swift.
A Landscape Slip Bracelet in solid rose gold, engraved with the gorgeous message 'You got this pumpkin ♥️'.
An 18ct yellow gold Signature Envelope Necklace gifted to his wife to celebrate their anniversary. Engraved across both sides of the Slip, 'Love you always in this life and the next'
A custom-made Landscape Slip Bracelet in solid rose gold. The chain was upgraded to the chunkier chain featured in the Story Collection.
The delightful news of being selected as a finalist in the Irish Country Magazine, Irish Made Awards, Jewellery Category.
Another custom-made Landscape Slip Bracelet, this time in solid 9ct yellow gold. This one was ordered alongside the rose gold above, as the wearer loved a mix of precious metals. They beautifully complimented each other.
A view from the bench, where every item is handmade, engraved, and finished, by me, in Galway.
Another beautiful birth flower engraved onto a Portrait Slip Necklace. It has been a treat to engrave the birth flower for each of the past three months, each one a birthday gift for a friend.
Lastly, a Signature Envelope Necklace with Standard Engraving. Made in solid 9ct yellow gold and engraved with the name and date of birth of a special person.
As for what is ahead in September…
Dare I say it but Christmas planning has begun. It's going to be a month of prepping, making beautiful orders, and hopefully finalising some new designs.
Is there anything that you would love to see added to the collection?
For now, thanks for spending some time with me here. I hope you enjoyed the read Feedback is most welcome. (Is it too long? Is there something else you'd like to know more about?)
Again, 'thank you' so much to everyone who has chosen By Leahy, and to those who recommend it to family and friends. I am so incredibly grateful, and it makes all the difference to a small brand like mine.
Here’s to capturing memories and creating connections in September.
Laoise x
